Principal's Message

Welcome to Wilson Elementary!  It is with great pride and excitement that I begin this new journey as Principal of Wilson Elementary School.  This is my 14th year in education.  Most recently, I have had the privilege to serve as your Assistant Principal for the past 5 years.  I personally attended Crandall all of my years of education and graduated in 2003.  I earned by Bachelors of Science from Abilene Christian University and my Masters in Educational Administration from Texas A&M Commerce.  I couldn’t be more honored to have the opportunity to step up into this role to continue maximizing student achievement and growth.  My husband, Chris and I have three children- Rylee Jo, Westin, and Wyatt.  Rylee Jo and Westin are both Crandall Pirates that attend Wilson and the youngest will start his journey as a Pirate next year.

The mission of Wilson Elementary is to inspire children through personal relationships to achieve their academic potential by providing effective instruction with appropriate interventions.  As a staff we share a vision to educate all children to achieve academic, social, and emotional success.  It is our desire to set achievable personal goals alongside your child to show growth in all academic areas.

As in previous years, there will be a Take Home Folder sent home each Thursday.  It will contain graded work and other important information.  Each week, a parent newsletter is emailed containing weekly events and campus news.  Please make sure your current email is on file.

The first day of school will be Tuesday, August 18.  Doors will open at 7:40 a.m. When students arrive in the morning, they will report straight to their classroom rather than an assigned location.  Breakfast is available starting at 7:40 a.m.  Students that eat at school will pick up their breakfast and report straight to their classrooms to eat and begin their day. Classes will officially begin each morning at 8:05 a.m.  Be sure to drop your child off with enough time to eat breakfast if needed and/or to allow travel time to their classroom and get materials put away to being promptly at 8:05 a.m.  The tardy bell rings at 8:15 a.m.  After 8:15 parents will need to park and bring their students to the front door.  The dismissal bell will ring at 3:25 p.m.

As you have seen in the “Return to Learn” plan on the Crandall ISD website the district and campus have safety protocol and precautions in place to keep students and staff safe.  We will be doing temperature scans for every student before entering the building, before entering the cafeteria for lunch, social distancing, promoting increased hand washing and use of hand sanitizer in between washes.  Students will be required to wear face masks or shields.  We understand that you may have questions, do not hesitate to reach out for clarification.  We are eager to have our your students return to campus and honored to be able to able to work with you to ensure your child is safe and learning.

I am humbled by this opportunity and look forward to working with you this year to ensure each child is successful.  Thank you for sharing your child with us.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the school office at 972-427-6040.
